Kirby actually got someone close to her to show her the way by following the COVID-19 guidelines …
With Pieces of woman coming to Netflix today, we had the pleasure of talking to Vanessa Kirby about his experience making the film, especially when it came to shooting that devastating birth scene, all captured in one shot. In addition to preparing for the release and the possible award season for this film, Kirby’s was also very busy filming Mission: Impossible 7.
As excited as we are to see the last installment of the franchise and learn more about the plot of the film, we take the opportunity to focus on your work experience during the pandemic. With COVID-19 destined to change the production process in the coming months – if not more – we asked Kirby about his experience of filming while following the new protocols. Here’s what she told us:
“The protocols, you get used to quite quickly. Everyone is always two meters away, everyone is tested three or four times a week. It is very strict. ”
The public got a taste of how rigorous the process is M: I 7 when the audio leaked from Tom Cruise scold crew members for not following these new COVID-19 guidelines. In Kirby’s case, she really got someone close to show her the way before she had to adjust to this new filming process – her sister:
“My sister is also part of the film crew. She is an AD. She was in the first film back, Jurassic World, in July I think and then I could see her do it and it was a wonderful moment because the industry had to close and the cinemas are closed; watching the films that are working again and people being able to work was a very beautiful thing. ”
Although Kirby expressed this feeling in a much more discreet way, this was what Cruise meant during his set explosion when he said to the crew members:
“We are the gold standard. They are in Hollywood making films now because of us. Because they believe in us and what we are doing. I stay on the phone with all the studios at night, insurance companies, producers and they are looking at us and using us to make their films ”.
I can’t even begin to imagine the challenges of putting such a significant production to work safely now, so if films like Jurassic World: Domain and Mission: Impossible 7 they are creating jobs and showing others a possible way forward, so I would have to agree with Kirby’s statement on the subject; seeing filmmakers returning to work is a beautiful thing and a much needed sign of hope for the future of cinema.
Jurassic World: Domain managed to reach the main finish line of photography in November 2020. Work is still in progress Mission: Impossible 7, but Paramount still has the film’s release date of November 19, 2021 on the calendar. While we wait for these films, be sure to check out Kirby’s phenomenal work on Pieces of woman now streaming on Netflix.
