Vanderbilt Commodores women’s basketball finishing the season early

Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball program decided to stop playing with the Commodores, who are battling an exhausted squad.

Commodores are currently 4-4, 0-3 within the SEC. The start of the season had three cancellations, and they have played two games since one game was canceled and two league games postponed.

They were eliminated in the second quarter of a 106-43 loss last week to South Carolina and lost 80-73 on Sunday to Kentucky’s number 12.

Vanderbilt’s list was shortened due to COVID-19, opt-outs, injuries, a player with myocarditis and another recovering from an ACL injury.

Commodores join a growing list of women’s basketball teams that have decided to stop playing, which now includes Duke, SMU, Virginia and San Jose State, among others.
