Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delayed, Hardsuit Labs fired

Paradox Interactive’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will not make its release date previously scheduled for 2021 – and for good reason. The publisher announced the game’s indefinite delay on Tuesday, and attributed it with a substantial development setback: Chief developer Hardsuit Labs is no longer working on the game.

At the Bloodlines 2 website, Paradox Interactive said that while the game is still in development, the publisher is no longer sharing a release date, nor is it accepting new orders for the game.

“This game is very important for us and has been an ambitious project since the beginning,” said Paradoxo. “To achieve our goals, we have come to the conclusion that change is needed and, as a result, more development time is needed.

“We would like to take this opportunity to honor Hardsuit Labs for their efforts and to thank them for their hard work on the project. The studio did an excellent job of laying the groundwork for the game and we hope that you, the community, will also appreciate your contribution to Bloodlines 2. “

Paradox status update at Bloodlines 2 follows a similarly terrible development milestone from last summer, when the publisher confirmed the resignation of two important creators. Lead narrative designer Brian Mitsoda and creative director Ka’ai Cluney were fired from Hardsuit Labs in August, a move described as “a joint decision made by the leadership of Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive”.

This news came right after a major game delay, from 2020 to 2021. That was Bloodlines 2second delay of; the game was originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2020.

Paradox announced Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in March 2019. The cult classic sequel of 2004 is in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Bloodlines 2 was the second project of Hardsuit Labs, following Blacklight: Retribution, a free cyberpunk-themed shooter for PS4 and PC.
