Valorant reveals new agent for episode 2

Riot Games has revealed a new agent set to come to Valorant along with the release of Episode 2, which will arrive on January 12th. The new character is called Yoru, and it looks like he could represent a big change to the game when he arrives. The character will offer players a number of unique skills to use in the game, which should make the game against Yoru a little difficult! The character can teleport thanks to his Gatecrash ability, hide from opponents with Dimensional Slit, or use Blindside to launch an unstable dimensional fragment that blinks when it connects to a surface.

However, Yoru’s most interesting skill may be Fakeout. Like Yoru, players can create an echo that sounds similar to steps. Like Yoru, players can either send the steps forward or put them in place in order to keep opponents away. Sound plays an important role in any FPS title, and this ability will make it much more difficult for opposing players to know whether the sounds they are hearing are legitimate or part of an elaborate ruse!

A cinematic trailer for Episode 2, featuring Yoru, can be found in the embedded trailer below.

Riot Games is calling Yoru an “Infiltrating Duelist” and his abilities seem to reflect that fact. It will be interesting to see how Valorant players learn about the new agent and how they find creative uses for the character’s skills! Adding any new character to a game like this usually makes a big change on the playing field, and part of the fun is seeing how players handle the challenge.

Launched last year, Valorant is a team-based tactical FPS. The main mode of the game features players in a five against five competition. The game currently offers 13 agents with different skills to choose from, and Yoru’s launch will increase that number by one. Tuesday’s launch of Valorant Episode 2 will also see a new battle pass available, which will last until March 1st. Players who have lost some of the game’s previous skins can also check out the Run-It-Back package, which will feature some previous offers.

Valorant is now available on the PC. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
