Valheim Patch fixes missing tombstone problem

The survival game Viking Valheim is going through a good time. The early access adventure managed to sell more than 2 million copies in the first two weeks, which means more than 2 million Vikings finding and reporting bugs. Valheim released a new patch today to address some of these problems, including missing gravestones and deadly ghost fireplaces.

Valheim update 0.145.6 was released today. It’s a relatively short list of major fixes, but it solves what appear to be some potentially complicated problems.

One is “extra tombstone checks (to prevent them from disappearing)”, referring to where your loot will be stored when you die. Like other survival boats, Valheim returns him to the place where he died to retrieve his belongings. The players reported that they found that their gravestones had disappeared from existence, and all that equipment along with them.

Another fix on the list is “fireplace smoke build fix”. This seems to be related to the problem that players reported with overly anxious fireplaces in the construction mode. As Ollie explains in our construction tips in Valheim, smoke can build up in buildings if you don’t ventilate properly, which will cause damage to your character. This makes a lot of sense. What makes less sense is that it could happen with a fireplace that you are trying to build, but have not yet installed. The phantom fireplace can smoke your home before it even exists.

I haven’t jumped in Valheim yet, but I know I’ll be an avid, undecided builder. I can see myself fainting as I scratch my head over the perfect placement of the fireplace. I have to fix this before I arrive, Iron Gate.

You can pick up the rest of the fixes in the Valheim patch notes, including several changes to the rescue system.

With that fireplace problem solved, you can get back to the job of repairing your base. Check out the RPS Valheim tips for some advice on how to get started.

Valheim is in early access on Steam, where Iron Gate is planning to continue development for at least a year.
