There were two new cases of coronavirus on February 18, 2021 and eight active cases.

More than 30 people received their second Covid-19 vaccination very early and will have to receive a third injection before they are fully immunized.

The Ministry of Health admitted the error tonight and also reported two new cases of the virus in 337 test results.

A health ministry spokeswoman said the ministry found that 34 people received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine before the 21-day requirement. These individuals were contacted by the Vaccination Centers and a third vaccine will be offered to them 21 days after the second dose.

Ayoola Oyinloye, the Medical Director, said: “Measures have been implemented to ensure that no one receives the second dose of the vaccine before 21 days.

He added: “This occurred at the beginning of the vaccination process, when the recipients of the vaccine made their own appointments instead of the medical team setting the date and time for the second dose consultations, and guidance from the Disease Control Center indicated that a four-day grace period was allowed. Public Health England is advising two days. “

Dr. Oyinloye said that a standardized Public Health policy was implemented by the Ministry of Health to maintain the manufacturer’s guidelines for the second dose administered on the 21st and before the end of the 12 weeks.

“I can assure everyone who has been contacted, there is no evidence that the adverse effects after a third dose are different from the well-documented side effects,” he said.

The first new case of Covid-19 reported today is a non-resident who arrived on the Delta flight from New York on February 12 and tested positive on his fourth day test.

The second new case is a non-resident who arrived on the Jet Blue flight from New York on February 12 and also tested positive on the fourth day.

There have been no recoveries since the last update.

There are currently eight active cases, seven of which are in public follow-up and one in hospital. None is under intensive care.

The health ministry also said it is experiencing continued high demand in its call center, especially with registration applications for vaccinations. The ministry apologized for any delays and asked callers who were waiting to be connected to be patient.
