From the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
The prioritization of the COVID-19 vaccine is expanding to include all residents of Humboldt County aged 70 and over, all emergency service workers, all licensed child care providers and all elementary and early childhood educators and support team. These additions will take effect immediately, even though consultations remain limited by the supply of the vaccine.
Although the vaccine is still extremely limited in the county and across the state, Humboldt County Public Health officials believe that vaccinating groups that were prioritized early on has progressed enough to offer nominations to other people and workforces, which include the following:
- People aged 70 and over – All county residents in this age group qualify.
- Emergency services workers – All police, firefighters and first responders, including volunteers and paid staff.
- Child and elementary education, child care – All employees, paid and voluntary, who work in an elementary and high school environment or early childhood education as educators or support staff. This includes advisors and office staff, as well as transportation, custody, cafeteria and maintenance workers.
All remaining Phase 1A health workers can also schedule appointments when available.
Individuals in the above categories will be contacted directly by their health care provider or Public Health to register for a consultation at a mass vaccination clinic. Those without a provider or whose provider is not an approved vaccinator must complete the county’s Online Vaccine Interest Form (humboldtgov.org/InterestForm) to be notified when an appointment is available. For help filling out the form, call the Humboldt County Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000.
Note that those in Phase 1A who are to receive a second dose will be prioritized. First appointments for county residents in other tiers will be scheduled as available.
Public Health provides for the opening of vaccination appointments for people aged 65 and over, who work in higher education and workers in the food and agriculture sector in March or April. This schedule depends on the availability of the vaccine.
