Vaccinations in Texas: 8-year-old boy administered the COVID vaccine by mistake in Dallas County

TEXAS – Texas Fire Department officials admit that an 8-year-old boy was recently vaccinated by mistake.

The colossal error occurred at a COVID-19 vaccine site in Grand Prairie.

Dallas County requires people to apply online before receiving the vaccine – and the date of birth is required on the registration form.

In a statement, a Dallas County judge wrote that the human error of a third party who oversees the county’s vaccination record list was the root cause of the error.

Jenkins said the county’s Information Technology department is working with this third-party company to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

As of March 29, Texans aged 16 and over became eligible to receive the vaccine in Texas.

However, it has not yet been approved for anyone younger than that age.
