A new COVID-19 vaccination site will open on February 14 on Vista, capable of delivering up to 500 daily doses.
The new clinic will be open from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm on Sundays and Mondays at Linda Rhoades Recreation Center, 600 North Santa Fe Ave.
All county vaccination substations and dispensation points, or PODs, are currently vaccinating people in Phase 1A and people 65 and over in Phase 1B. All require appointments that can be made at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com. Please note that the Petco Park super vaccination station will not be vaccinating people for three days due to the delay in sending the Modern vaccine.
County-funded community health workers, known as prosecutors, are reaching out to people aged 65 and over in National City, Chula Vista, Imperial City and San Ysidro directly to help them book vaccination appointments.
The Metropolitan Transit System is offering free travel for people with proof of vaccination appointment. 2-1-1 San Diego and promoters can also arrange transportation.
To date, more than 703,000 doses of COVID-19 have been delivered to the region with nearly 570,000 administered. The difference between the two numbers represents approximately what is expected to be administered in the next seven days and the doses yet to be entered in the registration system. Vaccines so far include more than 104,000 San Diegans who are fully vaccinated, while 15.8% of the population over 16 have received at least one dose. State metrics:
- The rate of cases adjusted and calculated by the state of San Diego County is currently 34.2 cases per 100,000 residents and the region is in either Purple Layer or Layer 1.
- The positive test percentage is 9.1%, placing the County at Level 1 or Purple Level.
- The county health equity metric, which analyzes test positivity for areas with the lowest healthy conditions, is 12.1% and is at Purple or Level 1. This metric does not move counties to more restrictive levels , but you need to move to a less restrictive layer.
- The California Department of Public Health evaluates counties weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16.
Community configuration outbreaks:
- Seven community outbreaks were confirmed on February 10: four in commercial settings, two in TK-12º primary school settings and one in a community based organization.
- In the past seven days (February 5 to February 11), 67 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
- The number of outbreaks in the community remains above the trigger of seven or more in seven days.
- An outbreak in a community setting is defined as three or more cases of COVID-19 in an environment and in people from different families in the past 14 days.
Test:
- 20,533 tests were reported to the county on February 11, and the percentage of new positive cases was 4%.
- The 14-day moving average percentage of positive cases is 6.3%. The target is less than 8.0%.
- The daily average of 7-day tests is 18,349.
- People at higher risk for COVID-19 with or without symptoms should be tested. People with any symptoms should get tested. Healthcare professionals and essentials should also be tested, as well as people who have had close contact with a positive case or live in communities that are being highly affected. Those who have recently returned from a trip must also take the test.
ICU cases, hospitalizations and admissions:
- 817 cases were reported to the county on February 11. The total for the region is now 250,791.
- 11,372 or 4.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
- 1,539 or 0.6% of all cases and 13.5% of hospitalized cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.
Deaths:
- 24 deaths from COVID-19 were reported on February 11. The total for the region is 2,979.
- 15 men and nine women died between January 14 and February 11.
- Of the 24 new deaths reported today, nine people who died were 80 years old or more, six people were in their 70s, seven people in their 60s and two people in their 50s.
- 23 had underlying medical conditions and one had an outstanding medical history.
