US Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, managed on Wednesday to have a Democrat’s statements about him removed from the registry during the second day of former President Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate, according to a report.
Lee protested after US Congressman David Cicilline, DR.I., stated during the trial that Trump had spoken to Lee by phone during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, The Washington Times reported. But Lee insisted that Trump was trying to contact US Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., Instead.
“They are against the facts,” said Lee, disputing Cicilline’s comments, according to the Times. “I am the only witness. These statements are not true … they were not made by me and are not accurate.”

US Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., Who is presiding over the trial, initially opposed Lee’s claim – but Lee appealed – prompting Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., to seek clarification. about why Leahy was opposed, according to the times.

Some discussion ensued, and then the House’s impeachment manager, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., Declared Cicilline’s comments about Lee to be “untrue” and agreed to remove the comments from the records, according to the Times. .
Earlier this week, Lee appeared on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom”, where he predicted that Trump will finally be acquitted at the impeachment trial – just as Trump was acquitted last February, after the first time he was charged.
