With National Signature Day approaching next week, college football programs are busy finishing their technical teams for the 2021 season. For some, this proved to be more challenging than others, especially for teams that were reshaped by changes in the head coach.
South Carolina finalized its new technical team earlier this month, leaving non-hired assistants looking for a new job. According to FootballScoop, former Gamecocks tight end trainer Bobby Bentley found his next job.
Bentley is accepting the position of coach of receivers in South Florida, according to FootballScoop.
Bentley has been in South Carolina since 2016. He first served as a 2016-18 running back coach, before making the transition to tight teams for the past two seasons. Bentley was among the coach casualties caused by hiring Gamecocks’ new head coach Shane Beamer.
USF technician Jeff ScottBentley’s relationship with Bentley dates back to Bentley’s days as a college coach in South Carolina. Bentley compiled a record 119-54 as a head coach at Byrnes High School, winning four consecutive state championships from 2002-05. Scott won a state title in South Carolina in 2006, his only season at Blythewood High School.
Before coming to Gamecocks, Bentley served as the college’s head coach for two seasons at Presbyterian, compiling a 10-13 record. He was then on the Gus Malzahn at Auburn as an offensive analyst in 2014 and 2015.
Early Friday, the USF announced that the coach Xavier dye he was moving into the tight-ended coach and recruitment coordinator, making way for Bentley to join the Bulls team. The USF ended last season, Scott’s first at the helm, 1-8.

The Bulls brought in a talented recruiting class that includes 22 players in the cycle. According to 247Sports Composite, the Bulls have the 63rd recruitment class ranked in the 2021 cycle. They also have the AAC ranked fifth class, which includes several three-star recruits.
“This is a very talented group. I really think there are a lot of young people who will be able to help us next year, and definitely in the years to come, ”said Scott through the team’s official website. “I’m really excited about the kind of guy we’re adding to our locker room.”

Bentley has a chance to work alongside the group while taking the next step in his career.
