US warehouses are full of highly effective PPE masks while people wear ineffective masks unwittingly

GREER, SC, February 4, 2021 / PRNewswire / – How the USA approaching half a million COVID-related deaths and new cases arise, the CDC continues to recommend the use of cloth masks, despite scientific research showing its very poor effectiveness in preventing the spread of viruses, such as COVID-19. Although many homemade masks filter only 3% of the particles, Carolina Face Mask & PPE, a domestic mask producer, says its masks filter 95% or more. As epidemiologists around the world warn that homemade masks are not doing enough, many European countries, including Germany and France, have now determined the use of medical-grade masks in public settings.

When the pandemic first hit, the United States found itself gravely ill-equipped, with no machinery to produce PPE at the required rate. As America acquired PPE mainly from foreign suppliers, there were not enough masks for doctors, much less for the general public. Consequently, the CDC recommended that the general public use reusable cloth masks to preserve medical grade masks for healthcare professionals. However, since the beginning of 2020, the situation has changed, as dozens of companies USA, such as Carolina Face Mask & PPE in South Carolina, invested in mask production machines to stabilize the domestic supply of PPE.

“We saw our frontline workers and citizens in desperate need of PPE. As veterans, our initial reaction was that we needed to step up, ”said Rick Gehricke, COO of Carolina Face Mask & PPE. “In a matter of weeks, we set up the entire production line, obtaining American raw materials to ensure that we could supply high-quality PPE in bulk in a sustainable manner.”

To ensure safety, Nelson Laboratories independently tested CFM’s face masks, making sure that the company’s masks exceed ASTM-F2100 standards, offering a filtration rate of bacteria and particles greater than 99%. Despite this certification, the masks cannot be labeled as “medical grade masks” or used in medical facilities – until CFM obtains FDA certification, which takes up to a year and an investment of tens of thousands of dollars.

After realizing that its masks could not help frontline employees anytime soon, CFM hoped to go straight to consumers. However, the CDC website explicitly discourages people from wearing medical-grade masks, so most people have no idea that their current reusable masks offer minimal protection. CFM has invested in several digital platforms to publicize its highly effective masks, but without success.

“Big Tech is blocking domestic mask producers at every step,” says Gehricke. “Google, Facebook, they all hid us from search results and blocked our ads, despite following all the rules and even providing our certification documents.” The warehouses are full of masks that exceed medical classification standards, but millions of Americans unintentionally continue to risk their lives wearing ineffective fabric masks.

“We have millions of life-saving masks at our fingertips, but due to great technology blocking us, the FDA over-regulating us and the CDC refusing to update the protocols, our hands are tied,” explains Gehricke.

As many European countries have already announced, if we want to stop the spread, research indicates that people need to get rid of cloth masks and wear high-quality, laboratory-tested masks. When will be USA get on board?

Carolina Face Mask & PPE currently offers small quantities of 50-1,000 masks online for consumers. CFM can also provide millions by special order (carolinafacemaskandppe.com). To schedule an interview with Carolina Face Mask or to visit the production facilities:
