US vaccinates 4 million people in one day

The Biden government announced on Saturday that the United States had set a new record for the number of COVID-19 injections administered in one day, inoculating more than 4 million people.

Cyrus Shahpar, Data Director for COVID-19 at the White House, tweeted on Saturday that more than 4.08 million doses had been administered in the past 24 hours. He noted that this was the first time that the United States had been administering more than 3 million doses a day on average last week.

“Wow, a record day of reporting !! + 4.08M doses reported administered over the total yesterday. First day with 4 million or more. Also for the first time, averaging over 3 million a day last week, ”tweeted Shahpar. “Millions coming together to accelerate our progress towards controlling the pandemic!”

Data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that the US has administered 4,081,959 doses of vaccine since Friday, bringing the average of seven days of vaccinations to 3,072,527 a day.

In total, more than 161.6 million doses of vaccine have been administered in the United States so far, according to the agency’s vaccine tracker. More than 104 million people received at least one dose and almost 60 million were fully vaccinated.

The data are released at a time when the government is seeking to accelerate vaccinations in an effort to return to a degree of normality.

The CDC issued a guideline on Friday stating that fully vaccinated people do not need to be tested before or after their domestic trip. However, the agency still advises the use of a mask and testing three to five days after the international trip.

But despite encouraging news in the vaccine field, experts are warning that the American public must remain vigilant to avoid another national increase in cases.

Cases have steadily increased in the past few weeks, after decreasing after winter break. Michigan, in particular, saw an increase in cases over a two-week period, according to data from The New York Times.

More than 30 million Americans have been infected with coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the CDC and more than 550,000 died.
