US Marshal shot in Baltimore while serving warrant; dead suspect

A US marshal was shot and taken to hospital with serious injuries while trying to fulfill an arrest warrant on Thursday morning at a home in Baltimore.

Members of the Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force were at the house in connection with an armed robbery and attempted murder, the US Marshals Service tweeted.

“A US Marshal MP was shot, transported to Shock Trauma with serious injuries and is currently recovering from surgery,” the agency said in another tweet.

According to the NBC affiliate WBAL-TV in Baltimore, the officer was shot by the suspect and responded to the fire, killing the sniper.

The US Marshals Service said it is still collecting details about the shooting and will release more information later.

The shooting came days after two FBI agents were killed and three others injured during a shooting in Sunrise, Florida, after authorities tried to execute a search warrant. The sniper, David Lee Huber, was killed during Tuesday’s incident.
