US Democratic MP Kurt Schrader opposes Biden’s COVID-19 relief package

US Democratic MP Kurt Schrader on Saturday morning was the only Democratic member of the Oregon Congressional delegation to vote against President Joe Biden’s new pandemic relief bill.

The US House of Representatives approved Biden’s nearly $ 2 trillion aid package, Schrader being one of only two Democrats to oppose the bill; the second Democrat was Rep. Jared Golden, from Maine.

No Republicans voted for the bill. This includes the newest member of the Oregon Congressional delegation – Republican MP Cliff Bentz.

The new aid package includes $ 1,400 for most Americans, as well as extra help for schools and businesses and extended unemployment benefits. Democrats expect the relief bill to pass by mid-March.

In December, Schrader also voted against a bill that would increase stimulus checks from $ 600 per person to $ 2,000.
