He was censored by Republicans in his local House district for his vote to remove Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) From her seat on the House Education Committee.
“Tonight, the Cass County GOP censored me for voting to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the education committee, and in their resolution they stated that ‘their comments were not at odds with anyone’s comments.’ Really? “Upton tweeted.
“She provoked a shooting survivor at the Parkland school, argued that California forest fires were started by a Jewish space laser, accused Democratic politicians of running a network of pedophiles in a pizzeria and questioned whether 9/11 really happened.”

Upton was previously censored by the party for his vote on Trump’s impeachment after a deadly rebellion carried out by his supporters at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
“We believe Congressman Upton’s vote is a betrayal of his oath and the central values of the Cass County Republican Party,” said the resolution passed by the Cass County Republican Party Executive Committee, according to Detroit News.
After the reaction against his controversial comments about school shootings and the QAnon conspiracy theory, Greene was stripped of his duties on the committee.
“If it weren’t for the Facebook post and comments I liked in 2018, I wouldn’t be here today and you wouldn’t be able to point the finger and accuse me of something wrong,” Greene said in the House plenary earlier this year. “I could believe things that were not true. I asked questions about them and talked about them and that is absolutely what I regret.”
Upton said it should be up to voters in the Greene district to decide whether she would be allowed to remain in Congress, but the House was right to remove her from her duties on the committee.
“I served on that committee and met with survivors of Columbine school shootings,” he said. “Since then, I have met shooting survivors in Parkland and Sandy Hook School and listened to all of her personal stories. She shouldn’t be on the education committee, and Congress was right to remove her, period.”
