UPS employee arrested, accused of murdering coworker in Connecticut: police

Police arrested the UPS employee accused of fatally assaulting a coworker while they were traveling in a delivery truck in Connecticut earlier this week, officials said.

Connecticut State Police announced they had arrested 19-year-old Elijah David Bertrand, hours after he became the target of a human hunt that began Tuesday night in Watertown, where UPS colleague Nathan Burk was found injured, said the police.

Bertrand, a resident of Bristol, was charged with murder and sentenced to imprisonment on $ 2 million bail.

The men were apparently in the same vehicle before the attack, although Bertrand’s motive for the attack was not immediately known, Connecticut State Police Officer Joseu Dorelus told a news conference on Wednesday. Investigators found a gun at the scene.

Police received a call at approximately 10:30 pm Tuesday about an accident involving a UPS truck in Watertown. When they arrived at the scene, they found the driver, Burk, 28, with wounds that indicated he had been beaten, police said.

Burk, a resident of Watertown, was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved.

UPS spokesman Matthew O’Connor told Fox News on Wednesday that the company was “deeply saddened by the loss” and was cooperating with the investigation.
