Apple released macOS Big Sur 11.2. EWAlthough you shouldn’t waste any time when it comes to important system updates, please be aware that there are no new features in this release to worry about – meAll bug fixes and security updates. If you have a brand new Mac M1 that you use with an external monitor, however, you may want to prioritize this patch today.

As always, installing the update is simple: Click the Apple logo in the upper left corner of macOS Big Sur and go to System preferences> Software update. You will see this screen as soon as you click to start the installation, which consumes about 3.66 GB of space:

And here are the highlights of what Apple is fixing on macOS Big Sur 11.2:

  • External monitors may show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
  • Apple ProRAW photo edits in the Photos app may not be saved
  • ICloud Drive may shut down after disabling the iCloud Drive desktop and document folder option
  • System preferences may not unlock when entering your administrator password
  • The globe key may not display the Emoji and symbols panel when pressed

Elsewhere, Apple also list several security updates you’ll find on macOS Big Sur 11.2. There are a few, including a fun one where “a user removed from an iMessage group can rejoin the group”, as Apple describes.
