The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to hire defender / point guard BJ Finney, according to a Post-Gazette’s tweet Gerry Dulac.
The Steelers are preparing to bring back guard / pivot BJ Finney to help with his depth and possibly as a replacement for retired Maurkice Pouncey, by source. Finney played with the Steelers 2016-19 and started 13 games for them.

Steelers hires Finney. Maybe just another free agent move, and I think it will be a TE, preferably a blocking TE to help with the racing game.

Dulac reports that the signature will become official once Finney has undergone a physical examination.
Finney is on the South Side team’s premises today, but first has to undergo a physical exam. He was released by Bengals last Friday. https://t.co/kyJOSVBJCv

Finney signed as UDFA out of the state of Kansas. He signed a two-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks last season. But he did not get an initial job and was negotiated with Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals released him earlier in the week. Reportedly, his struggles in 2020 resulted from a bad off-season exercise program that left him unprepared for the start of the camp.
With Pittsburgh, he made 13 appearances, seeing time in the center and on guard.
Finney will be the first step to replace Maurkice Pouncey, who retired several weeks ago.
UPDATE (12h56): It will be a one-year contract according to Adam Caplan.
