[Update: Back up] It’s not just you: Instagram, WhatsApp and other Facebook apps are down

It’s not just you: Instagram and other Facebook apps are down. We are seeing messages flowing on social media and the Instagram web app is generating a server error. Messages and posts are not loading in the app. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Reports on Twitter suggest that this disruption is affecting the Facebook app, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger to varying degrees. #InstagramDown is trend on Twitter, and reports are flowing that messages in Facebook’s recently unified messaging system are failing.

Update 14h14 ET: If you didn’t already know, Facebook apps and services are coming back online. Instagram and WhatsApp are now loading for us. If you experience problems in the future, be sure to check back every few minutes – all services should be fully functional in no time.
