Update 10.2 of the PUBG console adds reputation system, new car

PlayerUnknown’s battlegrounds now has a reputation system, ranking players on a six-point scale for how toxic (zero) or well-behaved (five) they are.

“We know that passions can be intense on the battlefield, but toxic behavior is never justified,” wrote developer PUBG Studio in a post accompanying the 10.2 console update. “Your reputation level will naturally increase as you play, as long as you don’t exhibit toxic or disruptive behavior.”

It appears that user reports will form a large part of a player’s reputation. Being reported for verbal abuse, obstructing a game or killing teammates will lower someone’s reputation level. The same will happen with a temporary ban for violating the terms of service – but, promises PUBG Studio, simply being reported for suspected cheats will not affect the level of reputation.

Leaving a match repeatedly and not returning “could lead to a decrease in the level of reputation” as well, said the developer. But the only surefire way to increase your reputation is, well, to play regular / ranked matches and not be an idiot in them. All players will start at Reputation Level 2, and that rating will appear in Team Finder, to give those looking for a group an idea of whether you will be fun to play or an idiot.

Elsewhere, the 10.2 update offers a new vehicle – the Coupe RB, a fast vintage roadster that is faster than anything except PUBGMotorbike. “Coupe RB will not transport your entire team, but it will take you where you need to go fast,” said the studio. It appears on the Erangel, Miramar and Sanhok maps.

Update 10.2 will also update Ranked Mode to waive penalties for leaving a match, if a player is doing so because the plane took off with an incomplete team. Full details are in the blog post. The rating point limit has also increased to 44; it was 39.
