Unofficial Baby Jeep images show the compact style of the Grand Wagoneer

Changes are coming for the Jeep line. The Grand Wagoneer concept that debuted last September gave us a near-production view of the upcoming luxury SUV. The spy photos of the next generation Grand Cherokee also share many design tips from the Grand Wagoneer. It is certainly logical, then, that such a reform could eventually reach smaller models.

This is what we have here, in these unofficial renderings by KDesign AG on Behance.net. The Jeep Compass appears to be the basis for this newborn SUV, which clearly incorporates the Grand Wagoneer’s grille and headlight design. The lower front panel retains the Compass’s large lower grille while incorporating new corner openings with integrated steering lights.

At the rear, we see a similar influence from the Grand Wagoneer, although not as dramatic as seen at the front. The taillights are square and more symmetrical compared to the current Compass. The lower fascia is completely different, bringing more symmetrical proportions that are inspired by the Grand Wagoneer, but do not fully reflect it. Overall, the renderings show a compact SUV with a very clean appearance.

There is an updated Jeep Compass in progress, but it will not look like these renderings. Not entirely anyway – we saw spy photos of the updated SUV for some time, and the 2022 model was unveiled for China in November, showing minor external adjustments with a revised interior. The headlights shrink a little, but do not mix with the grille as shown in these representations. Small changes are coming to the lower fascia as well.

When Compass makes its official North American debut this year, we don’t expect to see any significant changes from the Chinese version. This means that a compass, as represented in these renderings, would be relegated to the next cycle of the model, and it will happen a few years later.

Yes, this is an unofficial project, but we would not object if the Jeep took its small SUV in that direction.
