University of Michigan to open large home for vaccination clinic on Thursday

ANN ARBOR, MI – Casa Grande, which remained dormant during this year’s college football season as a result of the pandemic, will open its doors to provide greater access for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Hundreds of University of Michigan staff and students who fall into the Phase 1A priority vaccine group are scheduled to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Michigan Stadium on Thursday, December 31, Michigan Medicine announced on Wednesday in a press release.

The health system has vaccinated more than 6,000 health professionals since it received its initial shipment of 1,950 doses of the December 14 vaccine. With the opening of the stadium and other planned locations, Michigan Medicine plans to deliver all doses of vaccine received from the state, officials said.

Michigan Medicine is currently vaccinating only workers and students who fall into the first priority group, following guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The first vaccination day at Michigan Stadium, 1201 S Main Street, is from 9 am to 11 am on Thursday, December 31, according to the statement.
