Universal Studios Japan offered a virtual tour of the web at its long-awaited Super Nintendo World amusement park. This follows a completed map of the park that was released about two weeks ago.
The virtual tour takes visitors through the large theme park, brought to life by its vibrant Super Mario-Thematic architecture and animated videos of tours in motion. Attractions such as Mario Kart: Koopa’s (Bowser) Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure are part of the first phase of the Super Nintendo World. The first features a huge staircase next to a stone statue of Bowser. There will also be augmented reality, projection mapping, screen projection videos and other special effects integrated into Mario Kart’s themed toys, many of which interact with the magnetic Powerup bands that visitors receive upon entering the amusement park. The bracelets not only enable ride features, but also maintain dozens of park-wide ratings and other point-based systems, such as coins and stars. In addition to Mario Kart: Koopa’s (Bowser) Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure, the tour takes visitors through a playground, Kinopio’s (Toad’s) Cafe, Pit Stop Popcorn, Yoshi’s Snack Island and the 1-Up Factory gift shop. According to sources, Super Nintendo World has invested more than ¥ 6 billion JPY (about $ 56 million) in the project so far.
Super Nintendo World is scheduled to debut on February 4. Check out the dedicated theme park website for the virtual tour.
