CHAPEL HILL, NC — Roy Williams and North Carolina avoided sweeping the regular season for NC State with a 86-76 victory on Saturday afternoon. For the first time this season, five Tar Heels ended in double digits.
Armando Bacot led the UNC with 17 points out of 8 out of 12 shots. Garrison Brooks handled problems throughout the game, opening the door for freshman Day’Ron Sharpe to have a great day. He finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
Caleb Love continued his aggressive approach by attacking the ledge. After adding 20 points against Wake Forest, the freshman scored 15 points with five assists against Wolfpack. RJ Davis and Anthony Harris were the other two Tar Heels in double digits with 10 points each.
After losing 14, Wolfpack closed the lead to six, 75-69, with 3:54 remaining. UNC overcame his opponent, 11-7, to close the game.
