The UH men’s basketball team, after a tough victory over South Carolina, moved up to seventh place in the country in the last AP vote, released Monday morning.

The Cougars (4-0) defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 77-67 on Saturday night.

The shorthanded UH team fought an uphill battle against South Carolina without guards Marcus Sasser and Caleb Mills, as well as their head coach Kelvin Sampson or assistant principal Kellen Sampson on the sidelines.

Cougars have not been ranked higher in the AP vote since March 1984, when they finished fifth in the vote.
