UFC fighter Irwin Rivera told officers ‘higher power’ told him to stab sisters: report

The arrest report for UFC fighter Irwin Rivera detailed the horrific scene that Florida officials encountered and the bizarre statements that the MMA fighter gave to the arresting officers.

According to the arrest report obtained by TMZ Sports, police responded to a call in Boynton Beach. Responding police officers who arrived at the scene found a 22-year-old girl covered in blood on the road and another 33-year-old woman indoors. The two women were said to have suffered knife wounds. None of the women were identified.

The police officers who responded searched the area and finally found Rivera with her clothes covered in blood. The UFC fighter told officials, “I killed my sisters,” according to the report.

Police said Irwin admitted to “stabbing his two sisters” with a “metal knife”. The officials said that Irwin told them that he did it because “it was his purpose, that a higher power ordered him.”

Rivera was charged in custody at 12:08 am on Thursday at the Main Detention Center in West Palm Beach, according to online arrest records from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (Florida). He was charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder. There was no title information posted yet.

The UFC released a statement about Rivera’s situation. A UFC official said Rivera’s career will be on hold pending an investigation.

“The UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and has subsequently received information from his management that he has behaved consistently with mental health issues,” the UFC said in a statement. “The allegations are extremely worrying and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any possible next steps, including disciplinary action or medical care, will be determined upon completion. In addition, the UFC informed Rivera management that he will not be offered a fight at this time. “

Rivera had a fight scheduled for March. He hadn’t fought since October.
