The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues its dizzying start until 2021 tomorrow night (Weds., January 20, 2021) with its second of three events in a week. This time, former lightweight Michael Chiesa tries to settle down with 170 pounds against veteran Neil Magny, while The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Brazil” winner Warlley Alves tries to leave behind a big loss at Mounir’s expense Lazzez. UFC Fight Island 8 also features two intriguing flyweight fights between Viviane Araujo and Tyson Nam against Roxanne Modafferi and Matt Schnell, respectively.

What went wrong in UFC Fight Island 7?
Man, it sucks to call a bum right and then see things go up in smoke when a heavy favorite gets hit. The knockout defeat by Joaquin Buckley (watching the highlights) left us at a disadvantage, although a combination of good work by Ramazan Emeev and questionable judgment by Carlos Felipe limited the losses.

Thoughts: In a tie full of unknown quantities, Manon Fiorot stands out as a bargain. “The Beast” actually started out as an underdog, which would have been a great investment, but it is still worth your money. Her striking decisively surpasses Victoria Leonardo and she is a very robust counter-fighter, which combines with her effective footwork to get Leonardo’s ground game off the table.
She is the anchor of this event.
Tom Breese is definitely worth your time too. He is a much better boxer than Omari Akhmedov and appears to be a fighter sufficiently skilled to prevent “Wolverine” from making his usual “blanket for two rounds and desperately surviving the third” training. Although very unstable to recommend a large investment, an ad in “The Octopus” makes sense.

Thoughts: This is the third time that Tyson Nam and Matt Schnell have been scheduled to fight, but fortunately, the brokers still haven’t realized. Among his overwhelming power, excellent finishing defense and recent willingness to really let go of his hands, Nam is perfectly equipped to defeat Schnell, who was violently knocked out three times in the octagon.
If you want a favorite that won’t let you down, go with Viviane Araujo. The Brazilian’s excellent fall defense and his dangerous and heavy striking style worked perfectly against Montana De La Rosa last time, and Modafferi’s boats have similar strengths and weaknesses. In addition, if you are superstitious, Modafferi has been alternating defeats and victories since 2017 and is coming out of a victory, then the universe is on the side of “Vivi”.
