UFC 259 weigh-in result: Israel Adesanya weighs almost five pounds less than Jan Blachowicz

As promised, Israel Adesanya hit the balance with plenty of room for the UFC 259 main event on Saturday.

“The Last Stylebender” weighed 200.5 pounds for his challenge for the light heavyweight title of defending champion Jan Blachowicz, who came in with 205 pounds. Weighing almost five pounds less than Blachowicz, the 185-pound UFC champion appears to become the fifth UFC champion to have two titles simultaneously, the first to do so with an undefeated record, and the first to do so with the middleweight and light heavyweight belts.

UFC 259 features two more title fights on the main card, which were also made official at this Friday’s weigh-in. Two-division champion Amanda Nunes weighed 145 pounds in defense of the featherweight title against Megan Anderson (144.5), and Petr Yan weighed 135 pounds in defense of the rooster title against Aljamain Sterling.

The first 28 fighters to weigh on Saturday’s 15-fight card, all gained weight, including former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (136), the four-time flyweight title contender Joseph Benavidez (125.5) and the recent challenger to light heavyweight title Thiago Santos (206)

Light heavyweight challenger Glover Teixeira should weigh in as a substitute in the main event.
