We all witnessed the unfortunate end of the first UFC 259 title fight between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling. Yan’s knee attack on the temple of a fallen Sterling led to a premature stoppage for the fight at the 4:29 mark of the fourth round.
Sterling was later awarded the disqualification victory, along with the undisputed title of the cock, much to his chagrin. However, more detractors immediately huddled on Sterling after the fight, accusing him of cheating to win.

On Monday, Sterling’s trainer Ray Longo sat down with MMA Junkie. First, he went after the critics.
“People who think this guy is pretending are mentally disabled in a number of areas,” he said. “Because I left him, he was throwing up at the house. And when I left, he went to bed, but I think they cleared him up on a CT scan when he came back from the hospital.
“That was a cruel shot. It was blatant. “
Longo then turned his attention to Yan and the illegal blow to the knee, which still intrigues him 48 hours later.
“Why would that guy do that as a champion,” said Longo. “It is not even a valid excuse, ‘I know the rules or I don’t know them.’ There were no hands involved, the guy was just an opponent on the floor. Mark Smith said he was grounded, he told everyone.
“You really have to talk to Yan and find out what it would take you to do that. It wasn’t the heat of the moment, either. Because there must have been ten Mississippis while he had his hands on his head. And he decided to throw his head into outer space with his knee. “
“It’s kind of sad. I hope Aljo is doing well. I don’t know why the guy would do that. Like, sometimes, in the heat of battle, I understand that completely. But this was the style of execution. “
If it depended on Longo, Sterling would run back with Yan “as soon as possible”. “Funkmaster”, however, has another idea in mind.
