UF wins TE CJ Hawkins’ fast-rising commitment

The Florida Gators remain on the recruiting trail with their last verbal commitment from Tampa (Florida), Berkeley Prep tight end CJ Hawkins. Hawkins is the second verbal engagement with the Gators in the past three days. The Gators recently joined the mix with an offer to Hawkins, who was also his mother’s alma mater. Hawkins did not take long after receiving this offer to pull the trigger and commit to Dan Mullen and its technical team.

Florida tight ends coach and top recruiter Tim Brewster it was the technician who extended the offer for the 6-foot-7, 220-pound car on March 9. Hawkins also reported offers from countries like Alabama, the State of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and many others. In total, Hawkins chose UF among other 28 offers that he has reported so far.

Florida currently maintains five verbal engagements in its 2022 recruiting class to date, with Hawkins in the fold. The Gators 2022 class now consists of the four-star athlete from Tampa (Florida) Carrollwood Day, Tony Livingston, Miami (Florida), Edison’s four-star defensive edge Francois NoltonWide receiver four stars Edison, Miami (Florida) Syveion Ellis, Three-star defender Flower Mound (TX) Nick Evers, and the newly added Hawkins.

Hawkins played his first year of high school football last year for his high school after being predominantly a basketball player before that first year on the football field. His maxpreps profile made him take 2 passes last season for 41 yards and a touchdown, in addition to being a powerful blocker with great structure and size. Overall, Hawkins seems to have an extremely high ceiling as a player, as he has only just begun to scratch the surface of his football skills.

The Gators are still involved with a pair of other tight end in the 2022 class in Greer (SC) four-star Jaleel Skinner, who said the Gators lead for and Cumming (GA) West Forsyth four-star tight end Oscar Delp.
