Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot told investors yesterday that the company is considering changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine due to the negative connotations of the subtitle while the world is still in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic.
“We are creating a product that is, in fact … as it is called today, it is something that we are evaluating and we will see what will come in the future [Rainbow Six Quarantine], ”Said Guillemot after being asked if he had considered delaying the game due to his name (h / t VGC)
When contacted by Kotaku for comment, a Ubisoft representative said the company had nothing to add to Guillemot’s statement.
Although Rainbow Six Quarantine he was first revealed at E3 2019, started as Pioneer, a doomed science fiction project provoked in Watch Dogs 2. Since then, the world has been plunged into pandemic concerns due to the spread of covid-19, creating a strange environment to launch a game mainly about the spread of an alien pest.
Ubisoft has not yet announced a release date for Rainbow Six Quarantine, but CFO Frédérick Duguet said during the same call to investors that the launch is still planned for this year.
