Tyrese Gibson and his wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, ended the marriage.
The “Fast and Furious” actor shared a joint statement about the split on his Instagram on Tuesday.
“We decided to make a statement about a painful and significant development in our lives. After much thought, consideration and prayer, unfortunately we made the difficult decision to officially separate and divorce,” begins the couple’s joint statement.
The ex-couple, who shares a daughter, Soraya, 2, married in February 2017. In their testimony, the two say that their “intention is to remain the best friends and strong coparentes”.

“We feel incredibly blessed to have known and deeply grateful for the 4 years that we have been married. Our journey together has been a journey of ups and downs, but it is a journey that none of us would have chosen to take with anyone else. We really we have a lot of love and respect for each other. We have both grown a lot in this relationship; we share so many memories and beautiful moments and we are also looking forward to seeing the incredible future that lies ahead of us individually, “continues the statement.
The statement was shared with a photo of Tyrese kissing Samantha on the cheek at an event on the red carpet.

The ex-boyfriends also note that the year 2020 was “extremely tiring and challenging” and said they want to keep that energy “in 2020 and not take that energy to 2021”.
“We would really appreciate your most sincere prayers and respect our privacy at this time, while dealing with the reality of where we are,” concludes the statement.

Tyrese has another daughter named Shayla with his first wife, Norma Gibson, with whom he was married from 2007 to 2009.
