The media mogul recently appeared in CBS This Morning to discuss with co-host Gayle King his experience of receiving two injections of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, after he was asked by health officials to take it to encourage confidence.

“I took my first day on January 4th and did the second yesterday,” he explained. “I had no reaction to the first injection. This injection I took yesterday, I woke up with some pain. But I took Advil about an hour ago and I feel fine now.”
“I didn’t think I could trust her,” said Perry as he discussed the science behind the vaccine. “But as soon as I got all the information, I discovered the researchers, I was very, very happy.”

And now that Perry has educated himself and received the vaccine, he is hosting a TV special at BET this Thursday night at 9 pm EST, called COVID-19 vaccine and the black community: a special Tyler Perry.
“If you look at our history in this country, Tuskegee’s experiment, Henrietta Lacks, raises flags for us as African Americans,” Perry told King as he discussed the special, which will include interviewing medical experts. “So I understand why there is a healthy skepticism about the vaccine.”

“I have a team that works for me and they are mostly African Americans, all skeptical about the vaccine. When they sat in the living room, working on the cameras, doing hair and makeup … they listened to everyone. information and when we reached the end, everyone wanted to get it. “
“it all comes down to getting the right information and getting it from people you trust and understand. I think this last administration has severely damaged confidence with regard to this vaccine. But the information I have found has been very useful. “
