DEVELOPMENT: Tyler Johnson, a senior from Ohio and a native of Dayton, is not only fast, he is very fast.

Johnson was the star of the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, which ended today in Geneva, Ohio. He won the 200 meters and 400 meters and helped the Ohio State 4 × 400 meter relay team to come first.

His 400-meter time of 45.07 seconds broke the record for the Big Ten indoor championships by a quarter of a second and is the fastest time in the country this season.

Overall, the men’s team finished 3rd, while the women’s team finished 8th.

Also of note:

  • Allie Guagenti finished third in the 3,000 meters with a personal best of 9: 17.43 and a new Ohio state record (she destroyed her previous best time in 13 seconds)

  • Adelaide Aquilla defended her shot put title with a 17.7m / 58-1 shot, narrowly losing her best personal performance.

  • Clarence Foote-Talley had the 7th best triple jump in the country; a career best of 16.26 m / 53-4 1/4.

  • Nick Miller, Cameron Cooper and Frank Hayes were third, fourth and fifth in the 800.

  • Robby Oswald reached 3rd place in the pole vault with a 5.25m / 17-2 3/4 jump.

  • The real freshman Marcia Sey came in 3rd in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.27.
