Two wounded spiritual agents, passengers arrested after baggage dispute in Detroit, airline says

ROMULUS, Mich. – Two Spiritual agents were injured, two passengers were arrested and another was named this weekend after a baggage dispute in Detroit Metro Airportsays the airline.

According to Spirit Airlines, “three passengers attacked our agents without provocation”.

The incident happened on Sunday, while passengers were trying to board Flight 646 from Detroit to Atlanta, according to the Spirit.

When agents asked passengers to check that their hand luggage was properly sized before boarding, passengers became combative, according to airline officials.

The agents tried to calm the situation, but were “physically assaulted” while closing a door to prevent passengers from boarding, Spirit officials said.

One of the agents was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident, airline officials said.

“All of us at Spirit wish the agents a speedy recovery and we thank them for their courage and professionalism,” said the airline in an e-mailed statement. “We also appreciate the application of the law for responding quickly and arresting those involved in the attack. This violent behavior is totally unacceptable and has no place at airports or any other place of business. We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind and these passengers will be banned from any future journey with Spirit. Further questions about this incident should be directed to law enforcement authorities. “

Spirit later released an update that two passengers were arrested while the third was summoned and released.
