Two off-duty policemen in Virginia were charged with connection to the deadly violation of the US Capitol on January 6.
Rocky Mount police officers Jacob Fracker and Thomas Robertson were arrested on Wednesday after they were photographed inside the Capitol making an obscene gesture in front of the John Stark statute, the District Attorney of the District of Columbia announced.
A photo included as an exhibition in the criminal complaint released by the authorities shows the men posing in front of the statue with their fingers raised.
In a social media post included in the complaint, Robertson said: “CNN and the left are crazy because we really attacked the government that is the problem and not a random small business … — US Capitol. Keep poking us. “
He also said he was “proud” of the photo in an Instagram post that was shared on Facebook because he was “willing to put his skin in the game”.
In a separate Facebook post, Fracker said, “Lol to someone who’s possibly worried about my picture walking around … sorry, do I hate freedom? … not as if I did something illegal … do what you think you need. “This post has already been deleted, but it was also a sample of the criminal complaint.
Robertson admitted to Newsweek that he and Fracker sent the photo to colleagues in the police department and posted it on their own Facebook page after it leaked, according to the complaint.
The complaint also says that Robertson claimed that he did not break the law and was escorted by the police, “despite his previous posts that he had” attacked the government “and” taken over —— Capitol “.
Both men were charged with an accusation of intentional entry or stay in any restricted building or land without legal authority and an accusation of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
