Two Spirit Airlines workers were injured while two passengers were arrested and a third was summoned at Detroit Metro Airport on Sunday night after a fight broke out in the boarding area.
The fight came when there was a discussion about the size of the passenger hand luggage.
“Three passengers attacked our agents without provocation,” Spirit revealed in a statement.

The incident happened just when passengers were boarding Flight 646 from Detroit to Atlanta.
The fight started after gate agents wanted passengers to confirm that their hand luggage was the correct size for the aircraft’s cabin.
At the moment when the agents tried to calm the situation, the employees tried to alleviate the situation, but they were attacked when closing the doors to avoid boarding.
One of the airline’s workers was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.

The gate agents ended up on the floor and at least one had to be taken to the hospital
“All of us at Spirit wish the agents a speedy recovery and we thank them for their courage and professionalism,” Spirit said in a statement.
‘We also appreciate the application of the law for responding quickly and arresting those involved in the attack.
“This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place at airports or any other place of business.
“We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind and these passengers will be banned from any future journey with Spirit.”
