Two locations in South Florida will be among the various worship centers across the state that will begin providing the elderly with the COVID vaccine.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the venues on Sunday in Lynn Haven, located just outside Panama City. Facilities include Hollywood locations at the Koinonia Worship Center, as well as a Fort Lauderdale location at New Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Other locations across the state include Lynn Haven, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa and St. Lucie. DeSantis added that the locals aim to give the vaccine to those in mainly black communities across the state.

“You see that some of these big hospitals are starting to produce a lot of vaccines and we appreciate that,” said DeSantis in describing the different ways the state is trying to vaccinate residents.
On Saturday, the state’s Emergency Management Department said Florida expects to receive an additional 250,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines within the next week. The state has received more than 1.2 million doses to date.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the state is now firing an average of about 40,000 shots a day and is prepared to increase that number when the state receives more supplies from the federal government.
“Demand for the vaccine is high and we know that there is no time to lose when it comes to vaccinating weapons,” said DeSantis in a statement recorded on Saturday.
The state has made vaccines available to frontline health workers, employees and residents of long-term care facilities and homes for the elderly and the elderly aged 65 and over.
“We have more than 4.5 million seniors in the state and prioritizing them for the vaccine is the most effective tool we have to fight the pandemic,” said DeSantis.
