Two men with parachutes jump off the roof of a hotel in Nashville

Hotel security told police that two men approached the edge of the rooftop bar on the hotel’s 25th floor on Friday night and jumped out of it, according to a Nashville Metro Police incident report.

When the men jumped, the bar patrons started shouting and there was “mass panic”, according to the police report. Witnesses looked to the edge of the building and saw the two men parachuting down the road to an adjacent parking lot. As soon as they landed, they got into a parked car and drove away, according to the report.

A patron at the bar posted video footage incident on social media.
BASE jumping is an extreme sport and BASE is an acronym for construction, antenna, extension and land. Unlike skydivers, who jump from parachutes to planes, BASE jumpers practice their sport at fixed points such as skyscrapers, cliffs or bridges.

Hotel security told the police that it believes the men may have been guests of the hotel and, according to the report, video of the incident was provided to the police. The identities of men are unknown.

The rooftop bar is open to hotel guests and local guests. The hotel chain confirmed that the two men were hotel guests in a statement.

“The hotel immediately involved local authorities and guests were subsequently evicted and banned from the hotel,” the statement said. “We strongly condemn this kind of reckless behavior and other issues related to this situation can be referred to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department.”
