Two men arrested in connection with the abduction of a feared Utah woman killed

A Utah woman who was abducted from her home is dead and two men were arrested in connection with the disappearance, police said.

Conzuelo “Nicole” Solorio-Romero, 25, was “forcibly taken” from her home in Kearns, a suburb of Salt Lake City, on February 6 and forced into a vehicle, the United Police Department said in a statement the press.

Video released by the department shows what appears to be Solorio-Romero on a corner being forced into a car.

Police said she was taken to a residence in a suburb near West Valley, where “the evidence indicates she was shot and fatally wounded”. Authorities believe the body was taken to another location by a white truck.

The police recovered the truck, but have not yet found Solorio-Romero.

Police announced that Orlando Esiesa Tobar, 29, and Jorge Rafael Medina-Reyes, 21, were arrested on February 16 in connection with the kidnapping. Online prison records show that Tobar, from Guatemala, and Medina-Reyes, from Venezuela, have both been charged with felony kidnapping, felony murder, obstruction of justice and criminal murder.

They remain in prison and the attorney’s information was not listed for them.

Solorio-Romero’s sister told NBC affiliate KSL-TV in Salt Lake City that the two spoke on the phone shortly before the kidnapping.

“My sister called me and I answered and she was crying saying that there were three men who threatened her with a gun to leave the house,” said Juliana Bersamin.

Bersamin said he told his sister, with whom he shares the apartment, that help is on the way.

According to Bersamin, Solorio-Romero made two other calls to his cousin. She asked for a ride, but didn’t want the police to be called. When his cousin and Bersamin arrived, Solorio-Romero was already gone, the agency reports.

Accusation documents obtained by NBC News state that on the day of the kidnapping Solorio-Romero sent a video message to a friend saying that she was being forced out of her home by armed men.

The documents state that witnesses in the West Valley apartment saw Tobar holding a knife to Solorio-Romero’s neck and questioning her about information she would have given the police that resulted in the arrest of one of her associates.

Witnesses said she denied speaking to the police. According to the documents, Tobar reportedly said that she “knew too much and was not going to leave that apartment”.

Tobar then “moved his head to the side” and Medina-Reyes allegedly shot her, the documents say. A third person “disposed of Nicole’s body” while Tobar forced the apartment witnesses to clean up, he said.

Sheriff Rosie Rivera said at a news conference that she believes more people are involved and that she predicts more arrests.

“Two people cannot complete this type of crime alone,” she said.
