Draft Wire editor Luke Easterling released an updated two-round mock draft of the NFL shortly after the Super Bowl ended.
In recent months, many national media outlets have targeted the ex-Texas offensive to attack Samuel Cosmi and pass rusher Joseph Ossai as candidates for the first round.
As we move into the 2021 draft of the NFL, it appears that Cosmi’s draft stock is starting to drop. Ossai’s draft stock typically ranges from a final choice of the first round to a final choice of the second round, so his projections vary depending on which simulated draft you see.
That may, of course, change in the next two months, but Easterling now projects that Cosmi and Ossai will land in the second round.
The Texas star left tackle was removed from the table with the general number 34 choice for the New York Jets. Versatile athlete Joseph Ossai, listed as an EDGE candidate, landed at No. 55 overall for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN recruitment analyst Mel Kiper Jr., Cosmi lacked consistency.
He’s one of those polarizing guys. If you see him in certain games, you like his skills as a left tackle, he played as a right tackle too and others where he had problems in these 1-on-1 situations. He’s going to be one of those guys that teams can roll the dice earlier … there’s going to be a lot of differences of opinion, but somebody’s going to get him.
In Tony Pauline’s last great advice for the Pro Football Network, Ossai was listed as his 27th overall chance. The 2021 draft class lacks a real outstanding pass broker and Ossai could continue to improve his stock with an impressive Pro Day in Austin.
The NFL’s 2021 Draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 29.
