Two fugitive prisoners from the Florence prison captured at Coolidge

FLORENCE, AZ – Two fugitive prisoners from the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence have been captured, authorities confirmed.

On Thursday, the Coolidge Police Department received several calls from residents regarding the fugitive prisoners.

Authorities have been looking for David Harmon and John Charpiot since the two escaped from the State Prison in Florence on Saturday.

Police posted on Facebook on Thursday morning that the two were taken into custody and are awaiting transport back to the Corrections Department.

US Marshals officials say two deputy delegates involved in the search were driving in the Coolidge area when they heard a police radio call about a disturbance in a nearby cotton field.

When they arrived, minutes later, they found the two fugitives. Deputy chiefs had to electrocute the men to take them into custody, officials said.

According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Charpiot was convicted of molesting a child and sexual abuse, and entered prison in 2011 to serve 35 years. Harmon was admitted to prison in 2012 and served a total of 100 years. Their convictions include kidnapping and second-degree theft.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the Arizona Department of Public Security said Harmon and Charpiot tried to rob a company in Florence on Saturday. The pair apparently changed their appearance as they tried to escape from the authorities.

A $ 70,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the capture of the men.
