Two Florida women, ages 34 and 44, wore hats, gloves, glasses and women’s suits so they could cut the Covid line and do some bids. And they almost succeeded, but as the turn approached, health professionals realized that something was wrong with these grandmothers.
From HuffPost:
Police found that the dates of birth listed on the women’s identity cards did not match those they had used to register the jabs, Fox 35 Orlando reported. It is not clear whether women were equally disguised when they received their first injections, if at all.
An investigation into the incident is underway. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office issued trespassing notices to women, Click Orlando reported.
Unfortunately, these women are not the first to lie about eligibility for the vaccine. From NPR:
When asked if there were other cases of people who made a mistake trying to get vaccinated, Pino said there were some, including a man who had the same name as his elderly father.
“As we are involved in this process of trying to move people quickly, some people can squeeze themselves out, so it’s probably higher than we suspect,” he said of the exact figure.
And, noting that vaccines are “the hottest commodity,” he said officials have increased security around the site to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
Other states have also issued warnings against such conspiracies. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo proposed legislation that would make it a crime to provide vaccines to people trying to skip the queue, and Indiana county officials said earlier this month that about 30 people lied about the vaccine’s eligibility. in just one weekend, what they called a “substantial lack of morality”.
