Two deaths while hospitalizations and active cases of COVID-19 decline in North Dakota

The state reported two deaths on Sunday – a woman in her 80s in Burleigh County and a man in her 90s in Ward County.

Hospitalizations plummeted in December. The state reported 319 hospitalized earlier this month. Today, 106 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in North Dakota, and 14.06% of beds served are available in the state.

Cass and Burleigh counties continue to report the highest number of cases in the state. Cass County added 38 cases, while Burleigh County, which includes Bismarck, reported 18 new cases.

Neighboring counties of Morton and Stark now have 103 and 73 active cases, respectively. Grand Forks County has documented 126 cases, Ward County has reported 125 cases and Williams of Williston County has reported a total of 102 cases.

All counties, except Billings and Sheridan, have active cases at the moment.

Ward and Burleigh counties have the highest number of deaths, with 170 killed by COVID-19. Cass County is right behind with 164 deaths and Morton’s with 86.

Slope, Golden Valley and Billings counties had zero COVID-19 deaths.

Barnes, Bowman, Burke, Dickey, LaMoure, Logan, McKenzie, Morton, Ramsey, Ransom, Richland, Rolette, Sioux, Stark, Stutsman, Towner, Traill and Williams counties added five or less new cases.

A total of 1,924 tests were performed and 88,177 North Dakota residents recovered from COVID-19.
