The Chicago Bears hired veteran Andy Dalton for a one-year, $ 10 million free agency contract, but the quarterback remains a hot topic around the team.
The rumors involving Russell Wilson were the loudest, and now there is another defender ready for the trade market. After the Carolina Panthers switched to Sam Darnold, that leaves Teddy Bridgewater ready to be won. And, for many people, the easiest assumption was the Bears as a landing site.
Naturally, a popular point of discussion was the possibility for Chicago to negotiate with Bridgewater, which divided fans. Some believe that Bridgewater would be an instant upgrade over Dalton or Nick Foles. Others believe Bridgewater is a cautionary tale, especially for someone who reportedly declined an offer with the Bears in the off-season because he didn’t want to compete with Mitchell Trubisky.
My only lesson about Darnold’s trade is that it is further validation that Teddy Bridgewater is simply not the answer. I know Foles didn’t work, but thankfully the Bears didn’t catch him.

I will never understand Bear fans’ passion for Teddy Bridgewater.
If a team leaves you after a SEASON, that means they don’t think you are very good.
They not only moved on, but exchanged several draft choices to find another option to replace him.

In retrospect, I wonder if the Bears should have made a move for Bridgewater instead of Dalton.
I mean, in retrospect, a move for almost any other quarterback would be better.

If the bears were smart, they would switch Dalton and update to Bridgewater immediately. Both have health problems, but Teddy has many more advantages and makes the attack better than Dalton based on several factors. Make the switch !!!!!!!!! @ChicagoBears

I do not. I knew that Bridgewater, Bellows, Cam, etc. were not the answer last season and I am here to tell everyone that Dalton is not the answer either. So don’t get amnesia and start believing that he can play well for the #Bears next season, because it won’t happen. https://t.co/WBzKh0qqYW

Teddy Bridgewater is a better QB than Denver, Bears or Patriots have on their list. #NFL

Also, Teddy Bridgewater before Bears fans’ day is not an answer at all.
He is a below average QB with a below average arm.

So, is Bridgewater teddy available now? I will face you at Bears !!
– Joe (@HugeBearsFan) April 5, 2021
I shouldn’t have hoped the Bears would grab Bridgewater, huh?

Carolina paid $ 45 million to Teddy Bridgewater, and has now traded three choices for a QB that was defeated by Joe Flacco. I’m not sure what the plan is there, but investing so much in QB for mediocrity is something similar to that of bears.

Bellows, Dalton and Darnold…. I would rather have Bridgewater and Mond on the Bears.
– Jonathan Morris (@JonatelloM) April 5, 2021
I understand that Teddy Bridgewater is not good, but the Saints should have tried to keep him or make the Bears pay dearly for him (sorry, Bears fans, you guys just try to get qbs, it’s just one thing)
– Tee🪳 (@CantBlockPayne) April 5, 2021
I wish the Bears would have signed Teddy Bridgewater instead of Andy Dalton.
– Jack Russell (@JolietJack) April 5, 2021
Does that mean we can add Bridgewater to the Bears QB tryouts? 🤷🏾♂️
– Daniel Walcott (@ WallyD19) April 5, 2021
The bears should have at least tried to catch Bridgewater, but that would have been very smart
– Gen. J (@SaytheNano) April 5, 2021
Teddy Bridgewater for the Bears for the 6th
– another man (@MarkusTaffy) April 5, 2021
Remember when Bridgewater didn’t sign with the Bears because “he didn’t want a competition with Trubisky”
