Twitter reacts to Rockets rookie KJ Martin by blocking Rudy Gobert on the edge

Despite being only six feet tall, Houston Rockets rookie KJ Martin is quickly becoming known for his inner defense and his presence in blocking shots.

In January, the young Houston athlete candidate rejected Dallas pivot Boban Marjanović – who is 2.10 m tall – right on the rim. On Friday, he did the same with Rudy Gobert, an 2.10-meter-high All-Star with Utah Jazz. Appropriately, Twitter users went crazy when he did. See below a compilation of the best reactions on social networks.

Martin is the son of Kenyon Martin, a 15-year-old NBA veteran and the No. 1 overall choice in the 2000 draft. As such, the youngest Martin is still learning at the professional level. Still, like 20-year-old colleague Kevin Porter Jr., his development gives fans of the Rockets fighter something to watch in what would otherwise look like a lost season. Houston (11-24) came in on Friday with 14 straight losses, the biggest skid since 2000.

In the past few weeks, Martin has averaged 17.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 31.5 minutes per game during a spell in League G with Houston’s affiliated club, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. With the lead team’s hopes of playoffs becoming extremely remote, their development should become a clear priority as the 2020-21 season progresses.
