Twitter is testing an ‘undo’ option after sending tweets

The company confirmed to CNN Business on Friday that it is testing an undo option that would allow users to withdraw or correct a tweet before it was officially posted on the platform.

The feature was discovered by Jane Manchun Wong, an application developer who has a strong history of discovering new tools on social media before they were launched. Wong posted a GIF on Twitter, which shows a blue “undo” bar below the words “Your tweet has been sent”. (It is possible for the feature to change before it is formally implemented – if it does.)
It’s not quite the edit button users have been asking for a long time, but it’s a step to help them Proactively capture errors and slow down before sending impulse tweets.
The feature is reminiscent of Gmail’s existing recall tool, which allows users up to 30 seconds to cancel sending an e-mail.
Last year, Twitter (TWTR) told investors he was considering a subscription service and evaluating exclusive options for paying users, including a “undo shipping” feature. At the time, the company said it asked users in a survey to assess which options were more or less important to them.
“Throughout this year, you will see us testing subscription products in public,” the company’s Twitter account on investor relations provoked earlier this week. “You will hear more about them. And, hopefully, you will see some of these products launch as well.”
Last month, Twitter said it was exploring other subscription opportunities, as a way for users to become subscribers to Twitter accounts that like to receive additional content, such as exclusive ads and newsletters. The company also set an ambitious goal of doubling its annual revenue by the end of 2023.
