Twitch will update the PogChamp emote image every 24 hours

The first streamer to receive the spotlight from PogChamp is fighting game player Kenny “UnRoolie” McWild, as Kotaku grades. As such, it looks like Twitch will use PogChamp to highlight its community members.

Twitch removed PogChamp earlier this week after the original face of the emote, Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez, called for more “civil unrest” after the death of a woman during violent protests on Capitol Hill. “We want the feeling and the use of Pog to continue – its meaning is much greater than the person portrayed or the image itself – and it has a big place in Twitch culture,” Twitch wrote at the time. “However, we cannot in good conscience continue to allow the use of the image.”

Before Twitch removed it completely, some streamers banned PogChamp from their own channels. Twitch viewers use the emote to express enthusiasm. Whenever something impressive happened on a popular broadcast, the live chat filled Gutierrez’s face. In the future, you may see a completely different look flood your screen when a streamer breaks a world record.
