A relaxing stream of cooking on Christmas Day is ruined when Twitch’s Hollycannabis streamer has its roast interrupted by an elusive rodent.
The Christmas season allows Twitch’s most popular streamers to take time to spend with their family. Instead, some smaller streamers take the opportunity to spend their vacation on stream, connecting with viewers on a more intimate level. For Twitch streamer Hollycannabis, this stream was no different from their usual Just Chatting streams.
Hollycannabis is a streamer who, in addition to appearing in the Just Chatting category, also occasionally broadcasts Dead by daylight and Overwatch. When not playing, Holly cosplays regularly for her conversations and, more recently, broadcast her transformation into Grinch for Christmas.
For this flow, Holly chose a relaxing showcase with her culinary skills and was getting ready to remove a tray from the oven when a rat jumped out of a kitchen drawer, falling into the oven. Moments later, when Holly checked the oven and the bottom drawer, the rodent was nowhere to be found.
Several minutes after the initial encounter, Holly investigated the oven drawer again, using forceps to search the interior. The mouse, hidden under a roasting pan, launched the streamer of terror while running to protect itself. Shortly afterwards, an anguished Holly looked at the camera and exclaimed, “Guys, I’m terrified. What do I do?”
Hours later, exasperated Holly broadcast an update with more details on the planning and consequences of her healthy Christmas dinner, which began at 2:30 am that morning with the preparation of gingerbread cookies. At the time of the incident, the streamer had cooked an entire feast, concluding with baking the cookies along with a ham. Although Holly managed to capture and contain the rat, the streamer admitted that the rodent had escaped. As a result, she chose to live with a friend, saying that she “had to throw the house away”.
It is sad to see that Holly’s hard work and dedication have been ruined by a premature plague. With 2020 being a disgrace that everyone deals with, it is a shame to have this further interrupted by something that we cannot control. On the other hand, Holly’s attempt to peacefully relocate the mouse is one of many good examples given by Twitch streamers recently.
Other streamers had varied experiences during the broadcast during the holiday season. The popular Battle Royale Tfue streamer had a Minecraft stream interrupted by a police officer, who asked the streamer to leave with his hands up. Fortunately, the situation was resolved without injury, although later on a donor believed to be the “killer” teased the streamer with a message: “be hit”. On a lighter note, fellow Twitch streamer, Pokimane, received an interesting gift in the form of a “boyfriend resume” during a short stream of Christmas unpacking. In the end, she decided to pass on the potential boyfriend because he has no victories in Autumn staff.
Holly’s experience also serves as a slight change in pace from recent news about the flow of controversial prohibitions and policies on Twitch. Hopefully, Holly can channel this moment’s viral fame into opportunities in the future.
